The Maldivian Democratic Party has always prioritised safeguarding the security and stability of the Maldives and the Indian Ocean region in addition to interests of the party, in formulating its foreign relations policies. The party’s primary focus has always been on protecting the interests of the Maldivian people, whilst strengthening relations with neighbouring countries, friendly states and international organizations, promoting Indian Ocean region’s stability as well as peace worldwide, fostering global trust in the Maldivian state, and ensuring the preservation of Maldivian sovereignty.

The MDP believes that maintaining relations with international parties within the framework of the party’s foreign relations policies is of utmost importance. Hence, the Party urges all members, prior to any engagement with any international party in the capacity of representatives of the MDP, to notify the Party Secretariat.
