The Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) sends Independence Day felicitations to Sri Lanka

The Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP)extends its deepest congratulations and sincere best wishes to President Maithripala Sirisena, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and the people of Sri Lanka on the occasion of the 68th Independence Day.

We take great pleasure in joining our cousins in Sri Lanka as they celebrate this momentous occasion.

The Maldivian Democratic Party also expresses our gratitude for the Sri Lankan government and its people’s continued efforts to maintain stability in the Maldives. We take this opportunity to once again thank Sri Lanka for its years of assistance to the Maldives in all its sectors, especially in education.

Developments in Sri Lankan politics, foreign policy and economy are always reflected in developments in the Maldives. The Maldivian Democratic Party are especially encouraged by the rapid strides in democracy seen in Sri Lanka today.

Today marks great sacrifices by the brave people of Sri Lanka, and we wish you strength and resolve on this journey of “Ekama Deyak, Maha Balayak” (One Nation, Great Power), and as you work to rebuild a nation of peace, dignity and freedom.
