President Nasheed today attended the IDU Executive Committee’s meeting held in Wellington, hosted by the National Party of New Zealand.
During the session, President Nasheed spoke on the political situation in the Maldives and on ways the political deadlock can be resolved. He also participated in the Asia Pacific Democratic Union (APDU) session. President Nasheed also met Hon Murray McCully, Minister of Foreign Affairs of New Zealand and discussed the current political situation in the Maldives.
Guests were welcomed by Kaumātua, Mauri elder to the session held at the Parliament Building. In addition to the Foreign Minister, John Hayes MP – Chair of the Parliament’s Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade select committee, Peter Goodfellow, National Party President, Rt Hon Don McKinnon – Commonwealth Special Envoy to the Maldives, Secretary- General 2000-2008 addressed the session.
