The Maldivian Democratic Party lauds Australia’s continued support for effective governance in Maldives through the UNDP-led Integrated Governance Program. This program aims to strengthen the transparency and accountability of public institutions, promote equitable access to justice and respect for human rights, and strengthen the voice of civil society organizations.
The Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) makes special note of appreciation for Australian funding to the World Bank-managed Maldives Climate Change Trust Fund. The Fund supports the development and implementation of the climate change strategy and action plan for the Maldives. It is also of special note that the aims of the program are parallel with the Maldivian Democratic Party’s (MDP’s) stated commitment to support building a climate-resilient economy through adaptation to the impacts of climate changes and mitigation for a carbon neutral development path.
